As part of our team building day Europa is proud to support Tetiana Laskivska's fantastic idea of a Ukrainian Charity Corner. Tetiana is Ukrainian originally and this charity is close to her heart.
The Ukrainian Charity Corner stands out as more than just an occasion; it's a unique opportunity for individuals to come together, delve into a rich culture, and collectively make a positive impact. This special event went beyond the ordinary, weaving together elements of tradition, craftsmanship, and the spirit of giving.
Central to the Ukrainian Charity Corner was the vibrant display of traditional handmade accessories. These meticulously crafted items tell a story of heritage, skill, and the timeless beauty of Ukrainian craftsmanship. Each piece is a testament to the dedication of the artisans who pour their heart and soul into creating items that not only serve as adornments but also carry a piece of Ukrainian history.
Attendees of the Ukrainian Charity Corner were invited to explore and appreciate the intricate details of these handmade accessories. From embroidered textiles to intricately beaded jewelry, each item reflects the essence of Ukrainian artistry. It was an opportunity for individuals to connect with a culture that values tradition and craftsmanship, fostering a sense of appreciation for the skills passed down through generations.
However, the Ukrainian Charity Corner was not only a visual feast but also a culinary delight. The event offers a taste of authentic Ukrainian cuisine, providing attendees with the chance to savor the rich and diverse flavors that characterize Ukrainian cooking. Sharing a meal is a universal way of connecting, and through the Ukrainian Charity Corner, attendees were able to experience the warmth and hospitality that define Ukrainian culture.
By participating in this event, attendees not only gained a deeper understanding of a vibrant culture but also actively contributed to making a difference in the lives of others.
The charity we support and raise money for is called Support Ukraine.
We asked Tati a few questions …
Why did you decide to do the event?
“It’s heartbreaking to watch what is happening with my native country, so I was keen to support and raise awareness. It was not just an event; it was an opportunity for all of us to come together, explore a rich culture, and make a positive impact. Showcasing traditional handmade accessories and offering a taste of Ukrainian cuisine adds a personal touch and allows everyone to experience the beauty of Ukrainian craftsmanship and flavors.”
Did you do anything to prepare yourself for it?
“To prepare for a Ukrainian charity event, I started by reaching out to friends and asking for their support. Requesting friends to bake homemade goods. Additionally, borrowing handmade accessories from friends not only diversifies the showcased items but also highlights the community's collective effort. Engaging friends in these ways not only helps in event preparation but also fosters a sense of shared commitment to the cause, making the charity event more impactful and memorable.
How did the event perform this year?
“The Ukrainian charity event exceeded my expectations. We witnessed tremendous community support. It's inspiring to see the collective generosity and commitment to making a positive difference. The event has raised around £467 including a donation from Europa. Attendees can take pride in knowing that their participation contributes to making a positive impact on those in need.”
