Configure Your Consumer Unit

We can provide the complete solution to build your own consumer unit. Simply select the Empty Board, Main Switch, Circuit Protection and SPD best suited for your installation.

Configured to meet your specific requirements and to protect both domestic and commercial dwellings, consumer units are an integral safety measure serving two main functions:

• Protecting electrical cables and appliances against overload

• Protecting humans from electric shocks caused by earth leakage

Step 1

Build your own Single-Phase Consumer Unit with our new Empty Boards, as part of our extended High Integrity Sentinel range. Access to the board is easy with hinged lid complete with fly lead, transit screw security, and install flexibility.

Choose from a selection of 6 to 20 way Europa Empty Boards, with accessory kits available including module blanks and labelling kits for a supportive install.

Our new lockable lids are a great addition to enhance the safety and security of the board.

Step 2

The next step is selecting your Main Switch. Main Switches work by breaking the connection of both the live and the neutral wire at the same time, protecting installations from accidental damage and electrical faults.

Using a Europa Main Switch is a cost-effective solution to provide enhanced isolation safety. Our isolators are easy to access within the board with clear labelling - saving time during use and installation.

Main Switch Boards are a popular alternative amongst our Sentinel Range.

Step 3

Select your circuit protection device to ensure that a high fault current can’t flow under fault conditions – delivering protection for the installation, installer, and user.

Benefits of using Europa circuit protection:

• Easy installation with compact design for added wiring space

• DC current protection up to 6mA (Type A only)

• Short circuit protection

• Fully compliant with EN 60898 standards Choose from our range of RCBOs, RCCBs and MCBs, with Type A options now available.

RCBOs

Residual Current Breakers are used when it is necessary to protect against both overcurrent and earth leakage current faults. They have the combined functionality of MCBs and RCDs.

RCCBs

Residual Current Circuit Breaks detect and disconnect electrical supplies in the event of an earth fault, preventing electric shocks and fires.

MCBs

Miniature Circuit Breakers protect electrical circuits from over currents. Unlike fuses, MCBs are reusable and easier to switch ON/OFF.

Step 4

The last step to completing your board is choosing your surge protection device to protect against unwanted lightning strikes and surges.

• Type 1/2 - installations with lightning protection, overhead supply cables

• Type 2 - installations without lightning protection and overhead supply cables

• Type 3 – installations requiring the protection of sensitive equipment. Must be used alongside Type 1/2 or Type 2 installed at the origin.

With a wide range of Europa SPDs available we can deliver a value engineered solution and a compact design to save space during installation. Compliant with BS7671 Wiring Regulations and the 18th Edition.

Our Type 2 SPD kit is ideal for use alongside our High Integrity Sentinel Boards for the prevention of tripping and enhanced installer safety and protection.

Dehn and Mersen options also available to order.

We have a wide range of High Integrity Sentinel Consumer Units pre-configured, including our RCCB boards, Main Switch Boards and Fully Loaded Boards.
